Bringing baby home

I carried my baby for 40 weeks and a day before I met him. Prior to meeting him, I didn’t know much about him except that he was a boy and he enjoyed kicking me when I laid down for bed. My husband and I didn’t even know what he was going to look like; the 3D ultrasound machine was down at our 20-week appointment. Well all that changed on a sunny Wednesday morning.

After a whole day of early labor and an evening of active labor, my midwife asked me to push at 7 a.m. on Dec. 18. Our baby wasn’t ready to meet us then, so we gave him extra time to get with the program. At around 10 a.m., we gave it another go, and at exactly 10:41 a.m., we met each other for the first time.

“Hi baby, I’m your mama.” This is what I squeaked out through the tears as I held him. I kept looking at my husband who was by my side and asked him, “can you believe it??” He replied with, “he’s perfect.” And so he was.

1312_Qh_001Welcome to the world Quentin David. Everyone commented on your head full of hair, perfect little mouth and healthy set of lungs. And of course your size. You weighed in at 8 pounds, 4 ounces.

Finally looking at these incredible photos. Guess I shouldn’t be surprised that you managed to snap a few pics of Jay and Quentin even though you had just gone through labor!

I miss you guys and can’t wait to meet Quentin in a few weeks! I think he and I will get along since he already loves eating.
