Back to old Barney

For my husband and me, this summer has been all about weekend trips, which usually means packing up our car and hitting the road. This next trip was a little different; we packed up a plane and took to the skies. My friend Bret has his private pilot’s license and whisked us back to New Jersey in this single-prop airplane. We were all aboard! My husband even got to fly a little.  Above, at left, is the First Order Flashing Lens from the Barnegat Light Lighthouse at the Barnegat Light Museum. Very impressive glass right there! This beautiful basket of fried seafood fed the four of us one night. It was amazing! Aren’t they cute? Thank you Bret and Old Barney for the relaxing getaway!

What makes the perfect escape from a hectic summer? A beach house. Good friends of ours invited us to spend a weekend in their family beach house in Barnegat Light, N.J., on Long Beach Island. It was refreshing to leave work behind for this small town and relax all weekend. In a couple of pictures… Of course we made a stop at the local diner, Mustache Bill’s, which was featured on the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Our gracious hosts for the weekend. Emma kept us laughing all weekend. We made ourselves a feast one evening with fresh mahi-mahi and steamed lobsters. The Barnegat Lighthouse was my favorite local landmark. Dairy Queen was my second. Thanks for the lovely weekend Eve, Bret and LBI!
