Cape Charles: A summer bay vacay

Before we say farewell to summer, say hello to Cape Charles, Virginia. This adorable town hosted us for one final getaway before our “big kid” started kindergarten. Despite a mid-week trip to urgent care (what are the odds of contracting a salivary gland infection during the week of vacation?!?), we had a great time. And with that, I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking. :) Happy September to you all!

Old Town through new eyes

Five days away with the kids. Someone fetch me a gold medal because I honestly feel like I earned it.  :) Jay and I took the kiddos to one of our favorite haunts, Old Town Alexandria in Virginia. It seemed like ages ago when I worked in a small office on King Street, pre-kiddos and pre-husband, so it felt like a reunion of sorts introducing our kids to this familiar-to-me town. We enjoyed slipping into the city lifestyle for the short time we were there, soaking in the sights and sounds (thank you, blaring fire truck during that one nap time…). Here are a handful of my favorite snaps from our trip – enjoy!

Charming Charlottesville, Va.

In yet another summer getaway, we found ourselves in charming Charlottesville, Va., to visit sweet friends and their darling littles. When we first arrived, I immediately asked myself the following question:  why have we not come here sooner?! The town had me at hello. We didn’t come close to exploring everything this gem had to offer, but that just means we’ll be back again. :) In a couple of photos… After a delicious lunch at Blue Mountain Brewery, we went to Pippin HIll Farm & Vineyards, which took our breath away. They were setting up for a wedding here and would you just take a look at this venue?! So beautiful. Sisters. :) Sweet Abby girl, my kind and beautiful goddaughter. The sweetest. Keary and I have been friends since the 6th grade. This year we share 16 years of friendship! (And finally, a pregnant pic on the blog. :) 23 weeks here.) And we made one last stop at Carter Mountain Orchard to breathe in the fresh air and take in the views. …and we couldn’t leave without these …
