Bringing baby home

I carried my baby for 40 weeks and a day before I met him. Prior to meeting him, I didn’t know much about him except that he was a boy and he enjoyed kicking me when I laid down for bed. My husband and I didn’t even know what he was going to look like; the 3D ultrasound machine was down at our 20-week appointment. Well all that changed on a sunny Wednesday morning. After a whole day of early labor and an evening of active labor, my midwife asked me to push at 7 a.m. on Dec. 18. Our baby wasn’t ready to meet us then, so we gave him extra time to get with the program. At around 10 a.m., we gave it another go, and at exactly 10:41 a.m., we met each other for the first time. “Hi baby, I’m your mama.” This is what I squeaked out through the tears as I held him. I kept looking at my husband who was by my side and asked him, “can you believe it??” …

National Cherry Blossom Festival

I’ve been lucky enough to attend the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C., for the past three years. It truly is a sight to behold, and this year was no different. Through my eyes… On Saturday, it hailed and rained early afternoon before blue skies appeared. Magnolia trees are also in bloom and just as beautiful. They happen to be Margaret’s favorite. The┬áJapanese Stone Lantern was presented in 1954 as a symbol of cultural partnership between Japan and the United States after World War II.

OWF visits DC

My wonderful friend Margaret, also known as One Woman Farm, came down for a visit this past weekend. Here she is stuffing cherry blossoms in her face. This is not a good idea if you have allergies. We stayed in charming Old Town, Alexandria. Thank you for visiting. I’m already missing you.

Joy of Luck

Continuing with the daily prompts of the Joy of Luck class from Willette Designs… [3. lucky symbols] Seashells collected over the years remind me how lucky we are to travel. [4. seven favorite material things] 1. BasiL, the cat. 2. Old photos of Jay’s and my family. 3. Camera. 4. Bling. 5. Everything in my camera bag. 6.iPhone and MacBookPro. 7.External hard drives that carry all of my photos. And yes, I realize that this is more than seven items. And yes, I could’ve taken many, many more photos for this assignment. [5. & 6. what brings you luck and who is a blessing] My college education and experience led me to the post-college internship that helped me land the job I have today. Shortly after getting the job, my husband proposed. Shortly after that, we were able to buy a house. Lots of luck! And of course, I’m lucky to have my husband. Here he is standing in front of Old Main at Penn State. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! p.s. …
